Who can apply?
Only the attorney representing the case can submit an application for Mental Health Court.
What is the duration of the program?
Mental Health Court acts as a condition of probation. In General Sessions Court the program lasts a minimum of 11 months and 29 days as a condition of Community Corrections. In Criminal Court the program lasts a minimum of 24 months as a condition of TDOC State Probation.
What makes you a good candidate for Hamilton County Mental Health Court?
HCMHC serves any defendant who has pending charges in Hamilton County, TN. The defendant must reside in Hamilton County, TN and have a severe and persistent mental illness. Defendants must also meet eligibility criteria and are subject to acceptance from Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office.
